If you have a complaint about a property professional you can’t resolve, an approved redress provider may be able to help. They resolve disputes between consumers and property agents and can award compensation if they support your complaint.

A redress scheme's job it is to consider and resolve complaints about businesses and other organisations providing an alternative dispute resolution service. It is a formal, non-adversarial process designed to provide remedies to people who have been harmed or wronged. These schemes operate outside of the standard court system.

These schemes are free to use. They’re not regulators or enforcement bodies but have the power to investigate complaints and recommend how businesses should provide redress.

There are two that cover property professionals – The Property Ombudsman and Property Redress.

You can see which scheme an estate or letting agent belongs to within their agency profile on Zoopla, you can also search a list of members on the individual scheme's websites which will also give you the details of how to raise a complaint.
